The Sage Colleges’ men’s basketball team, the Gators, will visit Carroll Hill Elementary School at 6 p.m. Oct. 9 to stress the importance of reading and going to college. Carroll Hill Principal Dr. Casey Parker, Carroll Hill teachers, families and students will attend this Hoops for Literacy event at Carroll Hill school, 112 Delaware Ave. in Troy.
Sponsored by the Parent Outreach Program, Hoops for Literacy will connect the Gators with the elementary students. The players will share their favorite books with the children, and the students will participate in fun and energizing basketball drills.
This is part of an overall school effort to inspire a love of reading in students and increase academic success.
